The Project90 Hip Abductor is a Project90 initiative in which we are collaborating with PONI labs at Alberta Children's hospital and Ability workshops to create a way for children affected by cerebral palsy to develop their physicality and independence.
The Project90 Hip Abductor team is a University student team governed by the club Project90. We strive to help underserved communities which in this case, mean helping PONI Labs at the Alberta Children's hospital design a piece of exercise equipment for children with cerebral palsy.
Inspired by the traditional gym hip abductor, we adapt the device to fit children with cerebral palsy between the ages of 8 and 17. Furthermore, these children don't even have to leave their wheelchairs to use the device.
We are entered in the Tech Futures challenge inspired by last year's PONI Kneeling Frame in order to further spread awareness of Project90 and the communities we serve, and we all look forward to engaging in all the events MindFuel has prepared for us!
