Genius Hour: Shape Shifters - Collaborative Classroom Workshop - April 28, 2026

Workshops
Deadline: April 28, 2026

Generate creatures. Build systems. Shape a new digital ecosystem.

In this futuristic workshop, students use Tinkercad Codeblocks to create procedural 3D lifeforms—powered by loops, variables, and AI creativity. Geometry becomes biology as students “spawn” original shapes from the origin (0,0,0).

In just one hour, students will:

• Learn parametric modeling using transformations and logic

• Build a procedural creature generator in Tinkercad Codeblocks

• Explore symmetry, iteration, morphing, and shape grammar

• Use AI assistants to ideate, prototype, and refine

• Export 3D-print-ready models for real-world fabrication

• See how parametric design shapes engineering, architecture & product design

Why It’s Awesome: Students experience computational design the way professionals do—iterative, creative, and powered by math. And they LOVE watching their creatures evolve.

Who It’s For:  Middle school teachers and students interested in / learning about STEM & makerspaces, digital art & design, computational thinking, 3D modeling & fabrication

What Classroom need for the Hands-on Activity:

  • A classroom computer with access to both platforms (webcam/mic, optional)
  • Student devices with access to Tinkercad.com for Tinkercad Codeblocks (free, Gmail login available) and an AI assistant tool (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT)
  • Optional: a school 3D printer to bring creatures to life later

RSVP at Connect2Innovate.ca and give your students a front-row seat to the future of tech.
